The Ong Bak 3 trailer hurts so good

by Matt Gamble on Apr.11, 2010, under Foreign Films, Movies, Previews, Trailers

You know I’d watch anything Tony Jaa starred in, especially a movie that involved him kicking ass and taking names, but the whole idea of Ong Bak 3 seems a little ridicu …. good lord are those zombies?

That’s rad.

Coming Soon (4/11/10)

by Matt Gamble on Apr.11, 2010, under Coming Soon, Foreign Films, Movies, Previews

Almost nothing new added this week, nothing that is, except for Harry Brown and The Kids are Alright. And while The Kids are Alright does little to inspire confidence in it being anything of particular note, Harry Brown does the exact opposite. Probably because Michael Caine as a vigilante is pitch perfect casting, even at his current age.

Oh man, Taxidermia could be awesome

by Matt Gamble on Apr.06, 2010, under Foreign Films, Movies, Previews, Trailers

Finally released on DVD tomorrow, this Hungarian fantasy horror film looks like it could be a real hidden gem in an otherwise lackluster release date. Oh sure Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is awesome, but nothing else looks to be worth your time of day. Nothing else that is, than Taxidermia.

Taxidermia contains three generational stories, about a grandfather, a father, and a son, linked together by recurring motifs. The dim grandfather, an orderly during World War Two, lives in his bizarre fantasies; he desires love. The huge father seeks success as a top athlete — a speed eater — in the post-war pro-Soviet era. The grandson, a meek, small-boned taxidermist, yearns for something greater: immortality. He wants to create the most perfect work of art of all time by stuffing his own torso.

One to Watch – Micmacs

by Matt Gamble on Apr.06, 2010, under Features, Foreign Films, Movies, One to Watch, Trailers

Jean-Pierre Jeunet is one of those directors that caught my eye from the first film of his I saw. Sure its easy to say it is because his style apes that of another one of my favorite directors, Terry Gilliam, but its more likely due to the fact that the man just makes damn good fantasy films. So when I heard that he was finally coming out with his first film since 2004 you could say I was more than just a little excited. Then I watched the trailer, and now I am not sure I can wait until this film is finally released.
