Chip Kidd interviews Neil Gaiman
by Matt Gamble on Jul.17, 2009, under Comics, Interview, Movies
Neil Gaiman has been kind enough to post a link to this incredible, detailed interview about the writing the now legendary Sandman, its influence on modern comics, his fans, people he’s worked with and some fascinating tales about following around Guillermo del Toro on the set of Hellboy II in order to learn how to direct a movie. If you haven’t ever heard Neil speak you are in for a real treat.
Close circuit to Reed Farrington: Be sure to listen for Neil’s impersonation’s of William Shatner AND Harlan Ellison. They are priceless.
The entire hour and a half interview is embedded below. Enjoy!

Matt, I was looking for your e-mail address when I came across this Gaiman post with your message to me. I’m not really a Gaiman fan. I do have his “Fragile Things,” which I haven’t gotten around to reading, yet. I will look at his interview to catch his impersonations though.
Jay shared with me the Star Trek stuff that you sent him. I had never seen that stuff before. So I wanted to thank you for sending the stuff. It’s much appreciated. (Sorry if this comment section wasn’t an appropriate area to express my thanks.)

Fragile Things is alright. I’d recommend Neverwhere or Good Omens as better intros to him. He’s a good friend of Harlan’s, and his impression is priceless. I think you’ll enjoy it.
And it was my pleasure to send, Reed. Like I told Jay, it was stuff that we got for showing the movie, and while I had given out most of it to our employees, what I had I wasn’t going to do anything with, so I preferred to send it to someone who would appreciate it.
