Just moved myself and am currently surrounded by boxes. I know the feeling!
I saw that DVD on a review somewhere recently (can't remember where) now it's poped up twice and I have to go find it and see what it's about.

I started watching this and never finished it. I got distracted by something. Looks like I'm going to have to pop it in the DVD player again.

If this is someone's first introduction to Asian horror I can't imagine it not scaring the bejeebus out of you. Heck, the first appearance of the ghost absolutely terrified me. But the film never really gave any scares after that, which was disappointing mainly because Ji-woon clearly is very good at it when he chooses to. That all being said, I still really liked the movie, I just didn't love it.

I first saw this on the big screen in 2004 with 400 other viewers and the tension in the room could be cut with a knife. I walked out of the theater sore from holding the armrests so hard at the scary bits. Perhaps it's because it was one of the earliest Asian horror films I saw but I didn't see most of it coming and enjoyed that much more for that reason. I caught up with it again in 2006 when it was finally released on R1 DVD and I shared it with my sis and hubby and the second time around, either because I'd already seen it once or maybe because by that point I'd indulged in some of the other Asian offerings, it didn't seem nearly as scary (though it still had some creepy bits and the production design is so damned high it's hard not to enjoy it solely for its beauty).
