I have good news and bad news before I get to this weeks new releases. Bad news is Netflix still hasn’t shipped me a copy of The Devil’s Rain so next week’s review will probably be delayed, or a substitution will be posted in its place.

The good news is it looks like I will probably be joining Andrw and Kurt on their weekly podcast over at Row Three next week. I bartered my way onto the show with promises of a super cool story from my work and I aim to not disappoint. Should be fun, and once the podcast is posted I’ll give you a link so you can finally hear my rants in all their petulant glory.

In other news we have new releases at the theaters this weekend. Bottle Shock and Henry Poole is Here seem at least somewhat interesting, though not exactly mindblowing. I could care less about the new Star Wars film, thank you George Lucas for killing my fandom, and Vicky Christina Barcelona is a nice little movie that is one of Woody Allen’s better films from his recent past.

But the must see movie of the weekend is easily Tropic Thunder. I had the pleasure of watching it a month ago and absolutely loved it. It’s funny and ridiculous and insulting in all the right ways that make it a perfectly rewarding time at the theater. As an added bonus Robery Downey Jr is amazing even for his lofty standards, an Tom Cruise practically steals the film out from under him. Go see this movie. Go see it now.

As for DVD releases, holy crap do they suck. So much so that I am not going to recommend a single one of the major releases, because they don’t deserve it. Instead I am going to recommend The Wizard of Gore. I haven’t seen it, and know next to nothing about it, but I do know this. It is a horror movie that stars Crispin Glover, Jeffrey Combs and Brad Dourif. I know I’m sold.

As always trailers are after the break!

I’m really looking forward to Wizard of Gore. I had the pleasure of interviewing the director for my blog and the film sounds really good, especially with Jeffrey Combs playing such a different role.

Gratz on getting on the Row Three podcast! What fun, can’t wait to hear it!

It’s a weird week for releases, I ended up catching up with some older films instead of checking out the new ones although I will eventually see Clone Wars.

I’m not sure if I will ever see Clone Wars. I can be a bit of a SW apolagist, but even that looks too awful for my taste.

My pitch for the podcast was hat my story will kick the crap out of any of Greg’s HMV stories for FilmJunk. I’m pretty confident in my claim.
