Incredibly boring update this week, as only one new film is added to the booking sheet. The film, called The Strip, looks less than interesting. Though is does star Dave Foley, so odds are I’ll watch it. The only other news is that Afghan Star has been tentatively bumped to next week, and The Road has been bumped to Thanksgiving.

Some shuffling of the schedule again as a few moves have their release dtaes pushed to help make room. You should expect this for the remainder of the year at the very least, as their are simply too many strong releases and not enough screens. Don’t be surprised if a few interesting films end up falling off completely as well. Hopefully some of the other Independent theatres in town will snag them.

A couple of documentaries make the booking sheet this week, with We Live in Public being the most well known of the two. But the big addition is clearly the Amelia Earhart bio-pic Amelia, starring Hilary Swank, that will open on October 23rd.

But while that is the marquee addition, the one I am most anticipating is the re-release of the Akira Kurosawa classic, Rashomon, on February 12th of next year. This will be a brand new print, and as Kurosawa is one of my favorite directors, this will be a must see event. Hopefully it will be for you as well.

An impressive number of big additions this week, specifically with The September Issue, The Maid and Flame & Citron. Yeah, I don’t know what those are either. But just when I thought that those were the only new additions the big guns started rolling in. The Informant!, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and most importantly, The Road. All three have my interest piqued for various reasons, but The Road is a film that I have been highly anticipating for about two years now, and it is a film that I believe stands a good chance of being something that I truly love.

Lots of new additions with this update, and several films get their dates shifted around as well. Its hard to decide which is the biggest addition. The documentary It Might Get Loud is certainly nice, their is the LeBron James documentary More Than A Game, Audrey Tatou’s new film Coco Before Chanel finally graces the booking sheet, and even the religion documentary Oh My God? looks to be an interesting addition.

But then we roll out the big guns. Mike Judge’s new comedy Extract, Lars von Trier’s new film Antichrist, John Woo’s Red Cliff and the whale, Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story. Should be an interesting couple of months.

Shockingly uninteresting update for this week, as no new films are added. The most exciting update seems to be that two films, The Answer Man and Burning Plain, have been pushed to later release dates. Wheee!

Wait … scratch that. One new addition this week! That being the mockumentary Paper Heart, starring Michael Cera as Michael Cera and Michael Cera’s girlfriend as Michael Cera’s girlfriend. Nice to see he is not simply relying on playing the same character over and over again, but rather simply including others in on the fun.

One interesting thing to note is that we are now scheduled to open six, count ‘em (I know you won’t!) six new films on August 14th. While theoretically we will have the screen space I just don’t see how that will ever happen. That is a ridiculous amount of new movies to release on one weekend. My guess is a couple of them get pushed, though since three of those films have already been pushed once, don’t be surprised if they simply disappear into the ether. Its a shame really, though I know this is only interesting to those of us who rabidly follow these updates. By those I of course mean me and Daniel.
