I've never had the opportunity to watch any Brothers Quay films, which is yet another gap I need to fill at some point. I do know pixilation is surprisingly old, first being used in the early 1900's, it simply has never become popular. Which I can both understand and not understand.

And I agree, von Trier sucks!

Great write up. Have you ever seen any of the stuff by the Brothers' Quay? I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure they pioneered this technique and are seen as the forefathers of the form, as terribly niche as it is.

You and your girl both have good taste (with the exception of von Trier). Chris Cunningham is a (twisted) genius, The Fountainhead is one of the greatest novels I have ever read, even though I disagreed with it every step of the way, Aguirre is totally brilliant madness, American Movie may be the best documentary I've ever seen (although Capturing the Friedmans probably edges it out), and yes, The Descent is a bloody scary film.

Welcome to the LAMB! Look forward to reading more of your stuff in the future.
