Pop quiz hotshot. You rent a film that combines Benicio del Toro, Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead, that annoying woman from Pulp Fiction, machismo, and Javier Bardem’s glorious testicles. What are you watching? What are you watching?
Why Golden Balls of course.

Movies like this are exactly why I started this site.

Maria de Medeiros also has a big role in Guy Maddin’s SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD, there is something about her face, the cuteness, the roundness, kinda like Christina Ricci, that makes her compelling. Oh, and she can act too.
When I was watching that trailer I immediately thought it was an Álex de la Iglesia movie (Action Mutente, Ferpect Crime), but I’ve never heard of This Bigas Luna (doesn’t that translate to wide naked ass?) fellow, who also has a movie named “The Tit and the Moon” - funny. Funnier with Academy Award winners in the cast. Good Find Matt!
p.s. Álex de la Iglesia is one filmmaker that is grossly and unfairly neglected in the States. With a few advertising dollars, he could be the funny equivalent of Guellermo Del Toro. But nobody wants to take a chance, so small release of his DVDs or genre-film-festivals are the only way to see his films. Sad really.

Supposedly Luna is fairly popular in the UK, where his films have action gotten semi-wide releases. Evidently none of his films have never been released theatrically in the US as they are loaded with sexual overtones and sex, and our Puritanical values don’t take to kindly to that sort of thing.
The film he released before Golden Balls titled Salami, Salami is evidently his most popular film and the easiest one to fin. It also stars Javier Bardem and a young Penelope Cruz.
