You're right, as a movie it would be redundant. And I agree about Kirkman, his writing goes up and down, but the man clearly has some strong ideas he's playing with. And damn, he knows how to punch the reader in the gut...repeatedly at times. That's what makes the book so compelling: it's a never-ending saga of a zombie infested world. About halfway through the series that exists so far. The premise is very compelling (this one is begging to be made into a television series...how come no one has jumped on it yet?) and the characters are wonderful. I do have to admit that the writing bugs me sometimes. While I enjoy the story, I find the writing to be a bit pedestrian, and I constantly find myself going, "Really? He would be acting like that?" For example, the subplot with the crazy "Governor" character (don't spoil anything, btw, I'm still reading it) seems to veer into parody. You can only get so far with the excuse that, "It's the end of the world and there are zombies walking around! How exactly are people supposed to act?!!" But those are minor gripes. I'm fully addicted to the story and I'm not anticipating reaching the end, at which point I will have to wait for each new issue on a month-to-month basis like you poor saps.
