Cabin in the Woods Film Festival (All Hallow’s Lee Edition) – THE WHIP AND THE BODY

Posted on Oct 30, 2015 by | 2 comments

And we’re back! Angela and I wrap up All Hallow’s Lee with this edition of the Cabin in the Woods Film Festival Podcast where we watch the rather lurid Italian Gothic Horror film, The Whip and the Body, directed by the great Mario Bava.

This is one of Angela’s rare dives into the waters that are Italian genre films, and so far she seems to be enjoying it. For the most part anyways. We talk about the ridiculousness of a villain named Kurt, and try to figure out just where in the hell this movie is taking place, but otherwise we simply marvel at the weird concoction of eroticism and horror that makes up this film.

It’s a fitting film to conclude All Hallow’s Lee with, as this contains a fine performance from Christopher Lee, but it also is one where he doesn’t do much speaking or appear much, yet still finds a way to command the film from beginning to end. It’s a great performance, and a fun one to watch, and this is certainly a film I’m glad I tracked down. As for Angela’s feelings on the movie, well, you’re just going to have to listen to the episode.

As always, thanks for listening!

I review movies. I run a movie theatre. I annoy people. I let my dogs lick my face whenever they want. Sometimes I'm even a halfway decent human.

  1. I want to lay claim to Price’s radio stuff and The Great Mouse Detective for Price is Right

    • You can have The Great Mouse Detective, but I’m guessing a few of us will be fighting over his radio work.
