Most of the year I am perfectly happy with Landmark’s bookings, and I can even understand at some of their larger theaters that they regularly book mainstream films. I can even understand if they continued to selectively push mainstream films in Minneapolis if they did it responsibly and intelligently. But the problem is, booking Quantum of Solace into a theatre in which the largest house seats 250 people (second largest seats 175 and the other three don’t climb much over 100 seats) with a 30 foot screen for a major action film is categorically stupid. No one wants to see a big budget action movie on a tiny screen in a tiny theatre. And our regulars don’t want to lose a valuable screen that would otherwise be showing an Independent film for a mainstream film they can see at any other theatre in the city. It is poor business and terrible customer service.

Plus I really want to see Fears of the Dark.

@ Christian That may just be one of the greatest comments I have read all day…oh hell let make it since the begining of the week… LOL

@ Matt I have had a hate on for our local chain Cineplex. The moved into the local area, and pretty much destroyed all the smaller independ houses out side of Vancouver proper. Now that they have a monopoly on screens, they shovel us suburbites nothing but shit. The service sucks, the selection sucks, and the smell from screen #4 is somewhat disturbing. As much as the landmark may have made a retarded choice with the QOS thing, at least the rest of the year it sounds like they have some decent films. I would love to have a landmark out this way.
