High and Low (Brow) – Series 3 Episode 2 – The Impalers

Posted on Sep 9, 2011 by | 6 comments

And we’re back! It has been a few months since James and I have had time to sit down and record but we more than make up for it with a jam packed episode of High and Low (Brow) with James attempting to wrest the reins of control from me, worries that we don’t talk enough about an Italian Erotic film and belly rolls out of the way of suppressing gun fire to ensure that I am hit. Oh yes, all that and even the occasional movie review as well, would you expect anything more from this show?

In this episode the movies we focus on are the 1969 Italian erotic codpiece of one Radley Metzger entitled Camille 2000. Sure it has roots in classic literature, but is it really just an excuse for people to roll around naked? Coupled with that is the 1955 drama The Cobweb from famed director Vincente Minnelli (Spoiler alert, the V is silent!). A film filled with paranoia, mental illness and meat curtains. Wait, I’ve been informed that their are only curtains in this film, the meat is reserved for Camille 2000 only. Also, make sure to stick around for the blind selection segment of our show, to get a glimpse of what next episode’s theme and films will be.

If you have any recommendations for films we could watch for the podcast, or want to suggest a potential theme for us to use, or simply want to tell James how awesome he is, feel free to email us and tell us your ideas. If you enjoy the show make sure to subscribe through iTunes or our RSS feed so you can catch every new episode. Also, please friend James on Facebook. Because it will frighten and confuse him. And while you’re there be sure to join our relatively new Facebook group devoted to Where the Long Tail Ends.

One more thing, if you enjoy the show feel free to donate to it through PayPal in either a single installment or as a recurring donor. We’d love to upgrade some of our equipment and anything you donate will go directly towards us getting some decent mics and perhaps even pop screens that aren’t made out of cotton balls.

As always, thanks for listening!

I review movies. I run a movie theatre. I annoy people. I let my dogs lick my face whenever they want. Sometimes I'm even a halfway decent human.

  2. Well done, James! You’re one of the seven people outside the family who can actually pronounce our last name correctly.

And Gamble, it’s Catalonian, not Italian.

  3. Ah, good. I’m glad I got something right this time around. 🙂

Anne, thanks again for contributing to the show. I had lots of fun watching The Cobweb. It was really a great pick.

  4. Wooah .. Wooah … How did I not know about this?I’m nearly a week behind. I demand answers !! … I hope its a long-un, its been ages.

  5. I hope you enjoy it, Mahoney. You must not have received your handmade invitation. Matt must have been asleep at the switch. 🙂

We’re going to try to turn another out before long, so we can be back on schedule in time for the Flyway Film Festival edition at the end of October.

  6. To be honest there was a genuinely frightening moment there, when it was all level-headed, well -spoken, concise, sensible, dulcet-toned and pleasing to listen to …. Then thankfully, the young lady left the room and normal service was restored. See what I did there?

Great ep as always lads, glad you had a good time watching porn. looking forward to the next one as per! Not sure just how much of a docu-drama A Night To remember is, I seem to recall it’s a straight/up adap. Could be wrong tho, it has been known to happen.
