Tetsuo II: Body Hammer

Cody, Robert, and Nat return after a busy October to our usual podcast topics with 1997’s Japanese body horror film TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER.

The sequel to TETSUO: THE IRON MAN, TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER is essentially a revisiting of the same ideas given a bigger budget.

TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER is a revisiting of 1989’s TETSUO: THE IRON MAN. Directed by Shin’ya Tsukamoto and starring TomorĂ´ Taguchi, TETSUO II: BODY HAMMER is a unique take on urban alienation, body horror, violence, and machine/human hybrids.

Following that, we turn our attention to the recently completed THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND. Ostensibly THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND is an Orson Welles film, his last. We have a lot to say about that and the film in general.

Next month, we turn our attention to a British science fiction film which incorporates nuclear testing fears and fears about climate change in 1961’s THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE. We hope you’ll join us.
